The Upper Mustang Trek is a culturally rich and remote journey into the “Last Forbidden Kingdom” of Nepal, located in the trans-Himalayan arid region north of the Annapurna range. Known for its striking semi-arid desert landscapes, colorful rock formations, deep ravines, and Tibetan-influenced Buddhist culture, the trek leads to the walled city of Lo Manthang, the ancient capital of Mustang. This restricted area requires special permits and offers a unique glimpse into preserved Tibetan traditions, ancient monasteries, cave dwellings, and dramatic mountain views including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.
